Documentary wedding photography

Candidly capturing the big day you've been planning.

You're so close to the part where you get to enjoy what you've planned! Months of planning, a hundred decisions, and one day where all of it comes together. The only thing left to do is show up and actually be present for it, and that is exactly what great wedding photography makes possible.

Wedding days are fuller than anyone anticipates. There is always something happening in the corner of the room that nobody else caught, a quiet moment between two people who love you, something funny and unscripted breaking through right in the middle of something serious. Documentary photography means none of that gets lost.

The approach here is to thoughtfully move through your day, fully present and paying attention, knowing exactly when to hit the shutter. The result is an album that doesn't just show what your wedding looked like but actually captures what it felt like to be there. You will have something worth opening over and over again for every anniversary, guest visit, or any random ol' Tuesday evening spent with the love of your life.

KJ was amazing as our wedding photographer! I loved her calm, go-with-the-flow attitude when it came to our wedding day. She truly documented the day as it unfolded, while also having a specific eye for beautiful composition and moments that would be special. She felt like another friend who happened to be invited, while also capturing the day seamlessly.

The Stories Behind

A Few of My Favorite Days

Weddings are a one-take sport and I am obsessed with them for exactly that reason. Every gallery tells a completely different story — browse the blogs below and see for yourself.

this day only happens once

You've planned something worth remembering.

Reach out below and tell me about your date and your vision. If it feels like a good fit on both ends, it would be an honor to be the person in the room who captures all of what you've planned.

FAQs

How many photos can we expect?

It truly varies depending on the wedding day and events that unfold, but most galleries include anywhere from 600–1500 fully edited images. I don’t cap have a set cap — if it’s beautiful and tells your story, you’ll get it!

Do you travel for weddings?

Absolutely. I've been flown out to Washington, Utah, California, and more to photograph weddings — and I love it. There's something about capturing a couple's story in a new place that makes the day feel even more special. If you're planning a destination wedding or getting married outside my area, I'm always up for an adventure.

What's included in your wedding packages?

You get me, my expertise, my energy, and my "world's best hype woman" personality present on your big day. All your digital files will be delivered in a beautiful online gallery that's easy to share and download. Physical wedding albums are also included for you and both sets of parents, so everyone gets to hold the memories in their hands. If you'd like extra albums, prints, or add-ons, you simply order them through your online gallery!

Do you have payment plans? How much is the investment?

Yes! I require 50% to book your date, and the remaining 50% is due by your wedding day. Wedding collections start at $3,500 and include everything you need to document your day beautifully. From there, we can customize based on coverage, travel, and any add-ons you want. My goal is to make sure you get exactly what you want without any surprises.

What's your photography style? Will you blend in or be more hands-on during the day?

I'm fully present not just behind the camera, but with you. If you're nervous before walking down the aisle, I'll pray with you. When your fun uncle hits the dance floor, I'm right there with him. I let the day unfold naturally and capture it all as it happens... the tears, the laughter, the moments you didn't even realize were unfolding. When it's time for couple portraits, I'll give you prompts that feel natural and joyful. No stiff posing, no awkward "hold that smile" moments. Just you two, being yourselves, and me capturing the real emotion of it all.

Can you take formal family portraits?

Yes! I recommend a shot list for formal family photos, but a list too many combinations is where we start losing time you actually want back. That's time away from your guests, your cocktail hour, and your new spouse. I'm not afraid of your sassy Aunt Betty, and I can whip a crowd into a frame without breaking a sweat! Let's just keep the list reasonable and I'll handle everything else, get everyone smiling (yes, even the grumpy ones), and have your people back to the party fast.

What if we're awkward in front of the camera?

First of all, you're going to feel gorgeous on your wedding day. Hair and makeup done, in the dress of your dreams, surrounded by people who love you — confidence comes naturally in that environment! My job is to help you forget I'm there. We'll laugh, we'll move, we'll have fun. I'm not going to make you stare into each other's eyes for five minutes straight or do anything that feels forced. Just be yourselves, and I'll capture the rest. You'll do great... I promise!

How long does it take to get our photos back?

I always say four to six weeks, but it's usually sooner because I love staring at your faces! There's something about reliving your wedding day through the photos that makes me want to get them to you as quickly as possible. You'll get a sneak peek within a week, and then the full gallery shortly after. I know you're excited to see them... I am too!

Can we print our photos and share them online?

Yes! I give you the rights to your images, so print wherever you want. That said, the quality difference between a corner store and a professional lab is... significant. If you want your photos to look as good in print as they do on your screen, I highly recommend using the professional lab included in your online gallery. And yes, share away on social media! (But please tag me so I can celebrate with you and cheer you on!)
